Manufacturing personnel in Mexico grew 1.6 percent in 2022

Employed personnel in manufacturing in Mexico grew by 1.6% year-on-year at the end of 2022 (9.5 million workers), the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) reported on Tuesday.

The monthly survey of the manufacturing industry (EMIM) of the Inegi, announced a growth of 1.2% in the total hours worked and 1.4% in the average remuneration of the employees.

There was a yearly increase of 2.4% in December in the behavior of the used plant capacity, the relationship between the production volume, and the potential production that could be generated.

The sectors with the highest year-on-year rises in employment were the manufacturing of computing, communication, measuring equipment, and other electronic equipment, components, and accessories (6.3%) and the manufacturing of transportation equipment (6.3%).

When considering only December, based on seasonally adjusted figures, total employed personnel increased by 0.1% per month, hours worked increased by 0.6%, and average remunerations increased by 1.2%.

They also correspond to the rise in total exports in 2022, when it rose 16.9% annually to a value of 578,193 million dollars, with over 80% of them destined for the United States.
