Camtek Ltd. and FormFactor, Inc. have inked a deal: Camtek is purchasing FormFactor’s FRT Metrology division for $100 million in cash. This move will enhance both companies’ positions in the semiconductor industry.
FRT, based in Germany, is a leader in high-precision metrology for Advanced Packaging and Silicon Carbide. Camtek is renowned for its expertise in semiconductor inspection and 3D metrology. This acquisition will enable Camtek to tap into cutting-edge Advanced Packaging and Silicon Carbide technologies, requiring new inspection and metrology methods.
Camtek will integrate FRT’s innovative SurfaceSens™ technology to offer customers more comprehensive inspection and metrology solutions. The acquisition is expected to contribute around 10% to Camtek’s 2024 revenues and become profitable within a year.

Mike Slessor, FormFactor’s CEO, highlighted FRT’s progress and potential under Camtek’s leadership, emphasizing FormFactor’s commitment to advanced packaging solutions and semiconductor innovation. The deal is set to conclude in Q4 2023, subject to customary closing conditions. This strategic move underscores the dynamic nature of the semiconductor industry.
