Bosch announced that it will increase production in Mexico of electronic control units for driving comfort and components for powertrain electrification with the expansion of its manufacturing center in Celaya, Guanajuato.
This increase in production will require an investment of 4.5 billion pesos and the creation of 1,500 new jobs over the next seven years. Thus, Bosch México intensifies its activities in the country by accumulating recent investments for almost 20,000 million pesos in the automotive field, household appliances and capital goods for the next five years.
René Schlegel, president of Bosch México , pointed out that the country is privileged in terms of geographic and commercial position, at the same time that it has human capital with high prestige worldwide.
“The combination of these elements allows us to better serve our market, which makes the country very attractive for Bosch”,
Bosch plans to establish the charging unit manufacturing platform for the North American market at its Celaya plant. The site will double the footprint of manufacturing space with this 20,000+ square foot expansion , making it a benchmark for the North American region in terms of scale and process automation.
In addition, Bosch is tackling climate change with sustainable building solutions at the Celaya headquarters to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
Sven Ost, member of the Bosch Automotive Electronics Division Council, stated that with this expansion they respond to the strong demand for electronic components in the North American market.
“The decision to increase our capacities just two years after the start of operations in Celaya demonstrates the strategic importance of the site for powertrain electrification.”
With this initiative, Bosch Mexico takes another step forward in the transformation towards electromobility.
Bosch Celaya started operations in 2020 as the state of the art of a smart factory. Currently 425 employees work at the site, dedicated to the manufacture of automotive technology such as control panels, driving assistance and electronic components.
